Atopica 25mg Capsules for dogs contain 25mg of the active ingredient cyclosporine. Atopica is used to treat dogs who are suffering from atopic dermatitis - allergic skin disease. Ciclosporin exerts anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effects which can greatly improve your dog’s condition and quality of life.
Atopica 25mg are a blue-grey oblong soft capsule and are generally administered at a dose of one a day and can slowly be reduced depending on how positive results are.
Preferably Atopica 25mg capsules are administered to dogs without food, 1 to 2 hours before meal time. Atopica is also available in 10mg, 50mg and 100mg capsules to suit different sizes and breeds of dog. Atopica Liquid preparation is also available for cats suffering with itching and scratching.
Other causes of dermatitis such as ectoparasitic infestations, other allergies which cause dermatological signs (e.g. flea allergic dermatitis or food allergy) or bacterial and fungal infections should be ruled out before treatment is started.
It is often recommended to use skin supplements and soothing shampoos alongside Atopica Capsules. Products such as Coatex, Yumega, Viacutan and Sebocalm are often recommended by Veterinary Surgeons and Dermatologists. All of these products can be found in the Skin Supplement and Shampoo section of our website.
Please see below for recommended dose chart. Please note this is a guideline and your vet may recommend a different dose.
