Vetmedin Chewable Tablets 5mg
Vetmedin Chewable Tablets 5mg
- Delivery Info
Vetmedin 5mg Flavoured Tablets for Dogs are used to treat dogs suffering from canine congestive heart failure caused by an enlarged heart or mitral and/or tricuspid valve insufficiency. Vetmedin 5mg tablets help to stimulate the heart muscle and can help to reduce the progression of damage to the heart.
The flavoured brown Vetmedin 5mg tablets contain 5mg of the active ingredient Pimobendan and are scored to help you split the Vetmedin tablets should the dosage require it.
Each Vetmedin 5mg tablet is meat flavoured to help enhance the palatability of the medication and to aid administration as it usually needs to be given on an empty stomach
When used in cases of valvular insufficiency in conjunction with Frusemide (also available as Frusedale & Frusecare), the product has been shown to improve the quality of life and extend life expectancy in treated dogs. Vetmedin is often also used in conjunction with other medications, such as Fortekor, Digoxin and Prilactone.
Non-Prescription supplements can also be beneficial to animals with cardiovascular health and inflammatory disease. Products such as Gomega Liquid are often recommended.
Vetmedin is also available as a 5mg capsule or 1.25mg and 10mg chewable tablets to accommodate different sizes and breeds of dog.
Special Instructions & Dose
Vetmedin should be administered orally approximately one hour before feeding. The preferable daily dose is 0.5 mg pimobendan/kg body weight, divided into two daily doses. One half of the dose should be given in the morning and the other half approximately 12 hours later although your Veterinary Surgeon will advise you in more detail when prescribing the medication.
Vetmedin chewable tablets should not be used in cases of hypertrophic cardiomyopathies or clinical conditions where an augmentation of cardiac output is not possible for functional or anatomical reasons.
The tablets are flavoured. In order to avoid any accidental ingestion, store tablets out of reach of animals.
The product should only be used in dogs with cardiac insufficiency. Do not exceed the recommend dosage.
Do not store above 25°C. Store in a dry place.
Divided tablets should be returned to the open blister pocket and placed back in the cardboard box.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children. For animal treatment only.
