The law behind selling Veterinary Medicines online
In October 2005 a change in the law made it possible for pet owners to purchase prescription medicines and from sources other than their vet, provided they have the appropriate prescription. As a result your vet cannot refuse to supply you with a prescription, but they will need to have seen your pet within the last six months and they are permitted to charge a reasonable fee for writing the prescription, usually this fee is around the £12 -£15 level.

This legislation increased competition and as a result reduced the prices of veterinary prescription medicines. It means petprescription.co.uk can dispense prescription medications prescribed by other vets at significantly lower prices due to our considerably lower overheads and bulk purchasing ability. You can have great confidence purchasing from us, knowing that we are a VMD-accredited retailer.
All the products we supply are sourced from the same suppliers your own vet would use, and are exactly the same. We use MWI Animal Health Services, one of the biggest UK veterinary wholesalers.
