Upcard 7.5mg tablets are a new diuretic used to treat oedema (fluid build-up) associated with cardiac insufficiency (heart disease). They contain the active ingredient Torasemide and are easy to give: they are designed to be administered once daily - a benefit over many other diuretics which require multiple daily doses, and they can be given with or without food.
They will often be used in conjunction with other medications (such as Vetmedin, Cardalis, and/or Prilactone) to help optimise the results of heart disease treatment.
ablets are easily dividable into quarters for accurate dosing.
The recommended dose of torasemide is 0.1 to 0.6 mg per kg bodyweight, once daily. However, be guided by your veterinary surgeon's prescribed dose.
A common side effect of Upcard is increased thirst so your pet may drink and urinate more. Make sure their water bowl is topped up and that they can access it at all times.
Avoid use in kidney failure, dehydration or low blood pressure (hypotension). The use of UpCard is not recommended during pregnancy, lactation and in breeding animals.
