Frusemide 20mg tablets are used to treat oedema associated with cardiac insufficiency and trauma as well as renal dysfunction in cats and dogs.
Please note that Frusemide can also be spelt 'Furosemide' and is the active ingredient. It is also listed under Frusedale 40mg and Frusecare 40mg as it is created by different manufacturers.
Frusemide 20mg tablets are small white, circular, flat-faced tablets with a break line. Tablets are usually given every 6 – 8 hours as recommended by your veterinary surgeon. Diuretic activity begins one hour after oral administration.
If Frusemide 20mg tablets are being prescribed to treat heart failure, they will often be used in conjunction with other medications (such as Vetmedin, Fortekor and Vasotop) to help increase the efficacy of the tablets.
Frusemide is also available as Frusemide 40mg.
Frusemide 20mg tablets should not be used in animals under 4 kg body weight.
Do not use in animals with acute glomerular nephritis, renal failure with anuria, electrolyte deficiency disease or in animals that have received an over dosage of digitalis.
Do not use concurrently with aminoglycoside antibiotics.
Administration at the recommended dosage level is not normally associated with undesirable effects.
Frusemide tablets are not contraindicated in pregnant or lactating animals.
