Apoquel is available as a 16mg, 5.4mg and 3.6mg tablet to suit different sizes and breeds of dog.
Apoquel tablets contain the active ingredient oclacitinib which is used to control allergic dermatitis and improve many of the signs associated with skin disease. Common causes of skin allergies include fleas, contact and food. These triggers can produce the following symptoms: pruritis (itching), skin redness, skin irritation and hair loss.
Apoquel 5.4mg tablets help to reduce the itch-scratch cycle associated with skin disease; improving your dog’s skin and making them feel much more comfortable.
Apoquel tablets start to work rapidly, so in many cases you should see an improvement in your dog’s clinical signs within 1-2 days.
It is often recommended by Veterinary Surgeons and Dermatologists to use skin supplements and soothing shampoos alongside Apoquel. All of these products can be found in the ‘Skin Supplement and Shampoo’ section of our website.
Please see below for the recommended dose based on weight. Please note that this dose may vary depending on the animal’s condition and medical history.
Side effects may include diarrhoea and vomiting. Stop medications and contact your vet if this occurs.
Apoquel tablets can be used alongside some other medications to help improve the skin, such as shampoos and piriton.
Do not use in dogs less than 12 months of age or under 3kg bodyweight.
