Cardisure 2.5mg tablets for dogs are used to treat dogs suffering from heart failure.
The round, light brown tablets contain 2.5mg of Pimobendan and are scored on one side to help you split the tablet into halves or quarters.
Each tablet is flavoured to increase the palatability of the medication to make the tablet more appealing to your dog therefore making the administration of the tablet easier as Cardisure 2.5mg tablets need to be given on an empty stomach.
This is because absorption is at its optimum level when the stomach is empty - any food in the stomach can reduce absorption. Cardisure is often used in conjunction with other medications, such as diuretics e.g. Frusemide, Frusedale and Frusecare.
Special Instructions & Dose
The tablets can be divided into 4 equal parts for accurate dosing.
Cardisure should be administered on an empty stomach at least one hour before meals, as absorption is reduced when given with feed.
The tablets should be administered orally at a dose range of 0.2 mg to 0.6 mg pimobendan/kg body weight per day. Your veterinary surgeon will provide you with an accurate dose rate when prescribing the medication based on your dog’s individual needs.
