Vetmedin 5mg Capsules for dogs are used to treat dogs suffering from canine congestive heart failure caused by an enlarged heart or mitral and/or tricuspid valve insufficiency.
Vetmedin 5mg capsules help to stimulate the heart muscle and can help to reduce the progression of damage to the heart.
The hard capsules are orange and white in colour and contain 5mg of the active ingredient Pimobendan.
When used in cases of valvular insufficiency in conjunction with Frusemide (also available as Frusedale & Frusecare), the product has been shown to improve the quality of life and extend life expectancy in treated dogs. Vetmedin is often also used in conjunction with other medications, such as Fortekor, Digoxin and Prilactone.
Vetmedin is also available as a chewable tablet in 1.25mg, 5mg and 10mg doses to accommodate different sizes and breeds of dog.
