Nexgard Chewable Tablets for dogs is designed for the treatment of fleas and ticks in dogs weighing between 4-10kg and can also be used to help treat Flea Allergy Dermatisis (FAD). Each rectangular tablet contains 28.3mg of Afoxolaner which blocks GABA receptors and paralyses, and eventually kills, fleas and ticks. Afoxolaner usually takes no longer than 8 hours from attachment to effect fleas and ticks will be killed within 48 hours of attachment. One treatment of Nexgard kills fleas for at least 5 weeks and kills ticks for at least one month.
Nexgard tablets are beef flavoured to aid with palatability, and can be given with or without food. Dogs will often readily accept the tablet as a treat.
Do not use Nexgard in puppies under 8 weeks of age or in dogs less than 4kg in weight. Do not give to pregnant or lactating bitches or those intended for breeding as the safety of the product under those conditions has not been established.
