Ipakitine powder is a tasty supplement designed to support the renal function in cases of chronic renal insufficiency in cats and dogs.
Ipakitine contains two phosphate binding agents: Chitosan and Calcium Carbonate. These two ingredients help to support and maintain normal kidney function by helping to lower the amount of phosphates absorbed by the intestines as well as reducing the amount of uremic toxins that are absorbed.
Special Instructions & Dose
Usual dosing is 1g per 5kgs of bodyweight twice daily, mixed with food.

"When our cat was diagnosed with ongoing kidney failure (and once we'd got over the shock) our vet recommended this powder as it binds all the phosphates and other ingredients in her normal food that would otherwise overload her poor little kidneys. It's just a fine powder, given as a scoop added to her usual wet food and stirred in. She doesn't even notice, but we're reassured that she will maintain her weight and her appetite. It may seem pricey but it's really not - our little cat is just under 4kgs so only needs a single scoop per meal. That's at least 3 months' supply, and we don't need to buy expensive renal wet food for her. She keeps her familiar pouches she loves and everyone is happy. Nearly a year past her diagnosis and she's still healthy with a glossy coat and loves her food. Wouldn't be without this stuff now!"/ (Posted on
"This is sooo good for pets with kidney issues, as the powder binds any phosphates and nasties that their poor little kidneys would struggle to process, so they pass through harmlessly. So, you can continue to feed them their normal food with a sprinkling of this on top (without having the disruption of specific food to get used to). Be sure to check your pet's weight against the number of scoops required - our little cat is just under 4kg so actually, she only needs one scoop per meal. So the tub lasts nearly 3 months, which is amazing value."/ (Posted on
