Capstar is an oral adulticide that has been designed to swiftly kill any adult fleas that are on your dog or cat. The effects of Capstar can be seen just 20 minutes after administering the tablet and lasts for 24 hours.
Capstar is not a preventative. It only works to kill the fleas on the pet at that specific time; it does not provide long lasting protection against future fleas.
In order to prevent future flea infestations, you can use a monthly spot on treatment (e.g. Advantage, Frontline etc) 24 hours after administering the Capstar. Do not administer the spot on treatment on the same day as the Capstar.
There are also household flea sprays such as RIP fleas, Acclaim, Indorex or Staykill. These sprays contain a 12 month insect growth regulator which will provide your household with 12 months protection against fleas and other insects.

If your cat or dog weighs between 1 and 11kg, give 1 Capstar 11.4mg tablet.
For dogs weighing between 11kg and 57kg, give 1 Capstar 57mg tablet.
For dogs over 57kg, give 2 Capstar 57mg tablets.

Do not exceed daily dose.
Capstar tablets can be given by directly putting it into their mouth or by mixing it with a small portion of food and given immediately.
Administer on any day when fleas are seen on the animal.

It is available in
  • 6 x 11mg tablets (Small Dogs and Cats)
  • 6 x 57mg tablets (Large Dogs)

Key Benefits

  • Starts to work within 30 minutes.
  • Orally administered

Capstar can be used on animals 4 weeks and over. It is also safe to be used in pregnant and lactating bitches. Do not use in animals less then 1kg in bodyweight. For the first hour after administration, your pet may scratch more than normal which is common. This is caused by the fleas reacting to the product.

Dosage and administration: Capstar is to be given orally, either directly into the mouth or mixed into a small portion of food and then given immediately. For cats and dogs up to 11kg, please issue 1x 11mg tablets. For dogs over 11kg and over, please issue 1x 57mg tablets. If your dog is more than 57kg in bodyweight, 2 tablets will need to be given. Only one dose should be given daily.

What our vet says

What our vet says
"Don't be surprised if your pet starts scratching after administering Capstar. The fleas will react to the product. Please don't use Capstar on animals less than a month old or pets who weigh less than 1kg. Get a six month supply of tablets in either 11mg or 57mg. Always read the instructions on dosage thoroughly."
