Cardalis 5mg/40mg for dogs is used to treat congestive heart failure when it has been caused by chronic degenerative valvular disease.
Each brown, oblong Cardalis tablet contains a fixed combination of 5mg Benazepril Hydrochloride and 40mg Spironolactone. Cardalis is used to treat animals that require both active substances to be administered concomitantly at this fixed dose.
Cardalis 5mg/40mg tablets should be given with food, either a small amount just before your dog has had their main meal or can be given with the meal. Each Cardalis 5/40mg tablet is scored to enable you to divide the tablets if necessary.
Cardalis 5mg/40mg tablets are often also used in conjunction with other medications, such as Vetmedin and Frusemide.
Cardalis is also available as 2.5mg/20mg and 10mg/80mg doses to accommodate different sizes and breeds of dog.
Non-Prescription supplements can also be beneficial to animals with cardiovascular health and inflammatory disease. Products such as Gomega Liquid are often recommended.

Active IngredientsBenazepril Hydrochloride, Spironolactone
Cardalis combines both benazepril and spironolactone, which means only one treatment is required. By giving both these ingredients, owners with dogs suffering with heart failure are 3 times less likely to see any deterioration in health or death due to heart failure than giving just benazepril alone.
The tablets should be given with food, either mixed in with small amount of food before a meal or with the main meal. Do not use in dogs intended or used for breeding. Do not use during pregnancy and lactation.
